Buying Scrap Gold: Some Useful Guidelines
A person must be aware of the purity and complexity of gold and its fluctuating market rates while purchasing this precious metal. For becoming successful by investing in crap gold, you must know the right process of judging quality of gold and offering fair yet profitable prices to the sellers.
Almost always, gold comes combined with an alloy. When gold is pure and is devoid of any other metal, it is referred to as gold of 24 karat. Decrease in the number of karats indicates that the gold you are buying contains other metals. Pure gold is always more costly than alloyed gold. This means you will have to spend less money for buying scrap gold of 12 karat than scrap gold of 24 karat.

Investing in gold is for suckers
Recently, a friend and I were talking about investments, and let’s give him a name for easier reference. Let’s call him…Spike. Yeah, that’s a weird name, let’s call him that. Well, ol’ Spiky’s ears perked up when I said that because obviously he was just waiting for a cue to say what his secret weapon was. And so it was with great pride that Spiky said he had been investing in gold, “the classic hedge against inflation”.
Now I was torn in two. Stuck in two minds. Caught between the devil and the soothing sounds of the azure seas calling out to me. See, I wasn’t sure whether I should let Spike down gently [...]

The glitter of gold
Even as the economy wobbles and the U.S. Dollar’s value continues to erode, gold stands firm in the face of the financial carnage. The precious yellow metal has extended its record-breaking run of popularity by rallying two days in a row now while looking strong for most of today’s trading as well. Comparatively, the dollar slumped to a 2010 low against a clutch of major currencies and perhaps it is this pessimism that has spurred gold purchases since it is a great hedge against currency depression. Silver too excelled as it soared to a 3 decade peak as it closed at $24 an ounce on the 14th of October.
The steady decline of the dollar has contributed a lot to the popularity of commodities such as gold and silver and it seems to be getting to the stage where it doesn’t matter [...]
